Short answer

Superior is only about thirty minutes east on US-60 — closer to us than several of the bigger Valley suburbs and far closer than anyone dispatching from Phoenix. It is a historic copper mining town, and a large share of its housing dates to the first half of the twentieth century with plumbing to match.

Superior is a historic copper mining town tucked into the hills east of Apache Junction, and its housing stock reflects that history. A large share of the homes date to the first half of the twentieth century, built for mine workers and families, and much of the original plumbing infrastructure is exactly as old.

That means galvanized steel supply lines, cast iron drains, and sewer laterals that have been in the ground a very long time in terrain that moves. It also means houses that have been repaired repeatedly with whatever material was available at the time.

We are about thirty minutes east on US-60, which makes Superior closer to us than several of the bigger Valley suburbs — and considerably closer than any contractor coming from Phoenix.

What century-old plumbing actually needs

Galvanized steel is the defining problem. It corrodes internally, narrowing the interior diameter over decades until a three-quarter-inch line moves the volume of a straw. The symptoms are pressure that has been declining for years and rusty water when a tap has sat overnight. It is not repairable in any meaningful sense — the whole run is failing at once.

A repipe in PEX is the answer, and on a small older home it is usually a one to two day job. PEX matters here because it will not corrode on mineral-heavy water, it needs far fewer fittings on a long run, and it handles the temperature swings these houses see.

Below grade, cast iron and clay laterals in hillside terrain are worth a camera inspection before anyone assumes anything. Ground movement in this topography puts stress on rigid joints that flat-valley construction does not experience the same way.

Repairs layered over decades

The other reality of very old housing is undocumented history. A Superior home may have galvanized in one wall, copper added in the 1970s, a stretch of CPVC from the 1990s, and transitions between them made with whatever fitting somebody had.

Dissimilar metals in direct contact corrode at the joint. Where copper was tied into galvanized without a dielectric union, that connection is often the first thing to fail, and it fails from the inside where nobody can see it coming.

When we assess a house like this we check pipe material in more than one place, because what is under the kitchen sink frequently is not what is in the bathroom wall.

Why Superior homeowners call us

  • Galvanized is the defining problem

Interior diameter narrows over decades until a three-quarter-inch line moves the volume of a straw. There is no repair — the whole run is failing at the same rate — and the improvement after a PEX repipe is immediate.

  • Small older homes repipe quickly

Most single-story Superior houses are a one to two day job, and we handle the drywall and plaster repair in-house rather than leaving you to find someone else.

  • Hillside terrain stresses laterals

Ground movement in this topography puts strain on rigid clay and cast iron joints that flat-valley construction does not experience the same way. Worth a camera before assuming anything.

  • Thirty minutes, not two hours

Being closer than the Valley contractors matters more here than almost anywhere, because most of them simply will not make the drive.

Fast, professional and a great discount for a veteran family.
