Groundwater around Gold Canyon and out toward the Goldfield area commonly carries dissolved iron, sometimes manganese, frequently hydrogen sulfide — the rotten-egg smell — and a sediment load that shifts through the year and spikes after monsoon recharge. That is a different animal from the very hard but relatively clean municipal water in town.

The mistake we correct most often out here is a softener installed on untreated well water. Iron fouls softener resin, and once it does the unit loses capacity permanently. We have replaced resin beds that were destroyed inside two years because nobody put iron removal ahead of them.

The right sequence is sediment filtration first, then oxidation and iron and sulfur removal, then softening for hardness, then point-of-use polishing and UV disinfection if bacteria are present. That design has to come from a lab panel, not a test strip — which is why we would rather send a Gold Canyon customer for a proper water test than sell them equipment on a guess.

The other half of our Gold Canyon work is the newer custom stock — homes in and around the golf communities, up toward Dinosaur Mountain, and along the Peralta corridor. These houses tend to have plumbing that is in good structural condition and demands that are more about capacity and comfort than repair.

That means recirculation systems so a master bath at the far end of a long house has hot water in seconds instead of ninety, tankless conversions with proper gas sizing, whole-home filtration, outdoor kitchen and BBQ gas runs, pool and spa heater gas lines, and hose bib and irrigation backflow work on properties where a single run can be a couple hundred feet.

Long runs are where sizing mistakes show up. A high-BTU pool heater at the far corner of an acre lot is exactly the combination that exposes an undersized gas line, and it is the most common thing we get called out to correct on work someone else did.
